| WASHINTON — Today, AAF Founder Vice President Mike Pence released a statement on X expressing his full support for the passage of the SAVE Act:
“Americans deserve to know that their vote won’t be canceled out by an illegal vote. That’s why I have been proud to support the SAVE America Act since it was first introduced, and today am calling on Congress to finally pass the bill into law.
Instituting basic Voter ID and citizenship verification requirements will go a long way to restore Americans’ trust in our election systems. Throughout my career, I have supported Voter ID and opposed illegal immigration. In fact, Indiana was the first state to enact a strong Voter ID law in 2005 that was upheld by the U.S. Supreme Court.
While federal law already prohibits non-citizens from voting, this bill will strengthen existing law by requiring proof of citizenship and identity to register to vote in federal elections.
Under our Constitution, states hold the lion’s share of responsibility in ensuring fair and secure elections, but the federal government can still play the part that only it can by securing the border and passing the SAVE Act’s common sense reforms to ensure that American citizens, and only American citizens, can vote in federal elections.
Voter ID is an idea whose time has come, and I and our entire team @Americanfreedom urge every member of Congress to support SAVE America Act!”
