February 11, 2025 Dear Republican Senators, We are grateful for your work to quickly confirm President Trump’s cabinet selections. However, millions of hard-working Americans are deeply concerned with the nomination of Lori Chavez- DeRemer to serve as the Secretary of Labor. If the incoming Trump Administration follows the track record of the first administration, it could unleash American prosperity after four years of the Biden Administration’s inflation and massive overregulation scheme that benefited union bosses but hamstrung American industry and held us back on the world stage. Conservatives have long supported right-to-work laws as an essential part of making America the world’s most powerful economic engine in the history of mankind. Conservatives are largely unified behind an agenda of lower taxes and deregulation. Unfortunately, Chavez-DeRemer's record stands in stark opposition to President Trump’s plan to revive the American economy. As a member of Congress, Chavez-DeRemer cosponsored the PRO Act, radical pro-union legislation that would have nullified right-to-work laws in 27 States and forced workers to join a union to simply keep their jobs. She also cosponsored the Public Service Freedom to Negotiate Act which would have dramatically increased the power of government union bosses. These stances are in line with outgoing President Biden’s overregulation and pro-union agenda—not with President Trump’s plan to reinvigorate the American economy. Randi Weingarten, the president of the American Federation of Teachers, who urged schools to stay closed during the COVID-19 pandemic, praised the nomination of Chavez-DeRemer. AFL- CIO President Liz Shuler also issued a statement supporting Chavez-DeRemer’s nomination. Praise from the largest teacher's union that kept schools closed well after COVID was over and a union that regularly endorses radical anti-business progressives should give you pause. As supporters of the free-market capitalist system that built America, we request that you specifically question Chavez-DeRemer about her support for the PRO Act and the Public Service Freedom to Negotiate Act—legislation that would empower government union bosses. Unless Chavez-DeRemer recants her anti-free market positions, we strongly encourage you to vote against the nomination of this pro-union and anti-free market nominee for Secretary of Labor. The Conservative Movement has a strong bench of America First, pro-free market individuals, who are more than willing to serve the American people as Labor Secretary. Sincerely, Tim Chapman Marc Short President Chairman of the Board Advancing American Freedom Advancing American Freedom
