AAF: Letter to Congress to defund Biden’s Gaza Port

Dear Congressional Republicans,

During the State of the Union, President Biden proposed putting American troops in danger to establish a so-called “temporary port” off the coast of Gaza. This proposal is unconscionable.

You must defund this proposal in the next appropriations bill that becomes law.

If Hamas truly cared about Gazans, it would not have started this war. Hamas could end this war today by releasing the hostages and surrendering unconditionally. We all know that Hamas – not Israel – is delaying and stealing humanitarian aid intended for refugees, while simultaneously repurposing the aid for its war against Israel. It is Hamas, not Israel, that is fully responsible for all the civilian suffering and deaths in Gaza.

The United States should be supporting Israel in its mission to eliminate Hamas, not using American troops to prop up Hamas.

This plan would leave American troops vulnerable to attacks by Hamas and other terrorist groups intent on murdering Americans. This is not in our national interest. Our service members’ lives are too precious to risk a repeat of Abbey Gate or the 1983 Beirut Barracks Bombings.

We all know that President Biden’s temporary port is about shoring up an extreme antisemitic base that he views as requisite to win in November. The President should never put American troops in harm's way to simply win an election.

At a time when U.S. resources are stretched thin defending American interests against totalitarian regimes, we should not be helping one survive.

We demand that you make every effort to defund President Biden’s proposed temporary port in the upcoming appropriations bill.
