Open Letter to the United States Senate: Reconfirm Andrea Lucas

Dear Republican Senators, We strongly support the reconfirmation of Andrea Lucas to the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) and urge you to vote for her on the Senate floor. Andrea Lucas has served as the Acting Chair of the EEOC for the totality of the Second Trump Administration and has already taken strong steps toward a more evenhanded enforcement of employment civil rights laws. No longer is the EEOC the tip of the left-wing spear. Rather, Mrs. Lucas has restored the EEOC to what it was always intended to be—an office that fights to eliminate workplace discrimination, no matter what form it takes, and to promote equality under the law.

In just a few short months, the Lucas-led EEOC has rooted out DEI-related discrimination practices in some of the nation’s largest law firms, launched new pathways for workers and employers to report DEI-related discrimination, and won numerous legal actions against companies who were systematically harassing employees based on race and other factors. She also led efforts to restore and protect religious liberty in the workplace, including legal actions that have recovered tens of millions of dollars for workers impacted by COVID-19 vaccine mandates.

And she removed gender ideology from EEOC operations, while increasing its defense of women in the workplace suffering under sex-based harassment. The list of her successes and ongoing actions is long and unable to be fully detailed here. From protecting veterans to people with disabilities to Jewish workers under antisemitic attack, Mrs. Lucas has quickly turned the EEOC into an agency that fairly yet fiercely seeks justice for all types of violations of federal laws prohibiting employment discrimination. For these reasons and many more, we look forward to the Senate’s swift reconfirmation of Acting Chair Lucas to the EEOC. Thank you for your consideration.

Sincerely, Paul Teller Executive Vice President Advancing American Freedom
