Democrats Say They’re For Freedom – Not So Fast

Harris and Walz claim to be fighting for “freedom,” but are promoting radical far-left policies

that would impose government control on nearly every aspect of our lives.

HARRIS AND WALZ CLAIM TO BE FIGHTING FOR “FREEDOM” FOR AMERICANS

• Since taking over as the nominee, Harris has repeatedly tried to frame Democrats as the ones fighting

for Americans’ freedoms. • Harris has made freedom a central element of her stump speech, claiming at a rally that “we are

witnessing across our nation a full on attack on hard-fought, hard-won, fundamental freedoms and rights across our nation.”

o According to Harris, the freedoms under attack are “the freedom to vote, the freedom to be

safe from gun violence, the freedom to love who you love openly and with pride.” • In her campaign launch video, Harris asserted: “We choose freedom. The freedom not just to get by,

but to get ahead. The freedom to be safe from gun violence. The freedom to make decisions about your own body.” • Walz has echoed Harris’ framing around freedom, saying in his nomination speech “when we

Democrats talk about freedom, we mean ... freedom to make your own health care decisions, your kids’ freedom to go to school without worrying about being shot.” • The Democratic National Convention (DNC) has similarly made freedom one of its key messages.

o Democrats launched a new ad titled “Freedom” to kick off the DNC. o The DNC has featured “thousands of signs and multiple giant billboards” with the word

Attacks Against Religious Liberty

• Harris has backed far-left abortion policies that would force religious Americans to abandon their

beliefs and adopt her pro-abortion views. • During her 2019 presidential primary campaign, Harris proposed a policy requiring states to obtain

approval from the federal government before enacting changes to their abortion laws. • While in the Senate, Harris backed a bill that would dismantle the Religious Freedom Restoration Act. • Harris effectively tried to impose a religious test for office when she tried to disqualify a judicial

nominee for his membership in the Knights of Columbus. • Harris backed the Equality Act, which would have punished faith-based institutions for living up to their

pro-life beliefs. • Under the Biden-Harris administration, the FBI reportedly targeted Catholic activists as potential

terrorists. • As governor, Walz signed legislation to prevent faith-based schools from participating in a state

program that enabled high school students to earn free college credits.

Extreme Climate Mandates

• The Biden-Harris administration has released an onslaught of new climate rules and mandates, many

of which have been struck down in the courts as unlawful. • Harris has supported a ban on fracking in the past, recently trying to flip-flop on the issue. • While running in the 2020 Democratic primary, Harris proposed an extreme $10 trillion climate plan.

• Harris cosponsored Green New Deal legislation while in the Senate and claimed she wanted to

eliminate the filibuster to force the bill through.

Massive Government Intervention In The Economy

• Harris’ radical agenda would mean communist style price controls and a wave of job-killing regulations. • Harris has proposed price controls on groceries that have been widely criticized, even by economists

on the left, and could lead to food shortages. • If elected, Harris would continue the unprecedented wave of federal regulations imposed by this

administration that are expected to cost as much as $1.69 trillion as of August 2024. • Small businesses owners have warned about the devastating impact that Harris’ agenda could have on

Pushing Radical Transgender Ideology

• The left wants to force parents and doctors to adopt a radical transgender agenda that harms children. • The Biden-Harris administration pressured an international group of medical providers to eliminate age

limit guidelines for transgender procedures, according to court documents. • Walz signed legislation in Minnesota promoting and defending harmful transgender medical

procedures for children.

Discriminating Against Americans Under The Guise Of “Equity”

• Instead of treating all Americans equally, Harris has been a leading proponent of absurd Diversity,

Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) policies that punish certain Americans based on their race and background. • Harris has claimed that instead of treating everyone equally, the government should promote “equity”

policies that ensure everyone ends up “at the same place.”

o Harris: “There’s a big difference between equality and equity.” • Harris attacked the Supreme Court’s decision to end race-based preferences in the college admissions

process which often unfairly targeted Asian Americans.

Draconian COVID Mandates

• Harris and Walz backed draconian government mandates during the COVID-19 pandemic that kept

children out of schools and shuttered businesses. • In July 2020, Harris criticized those pushing to return students to in-person schooling. • The Biden-Harris administration caved to pressure from the teachers’ unions who were fighting against

the reopening of schools. • As governor, Walz largely kept schools closed to in-person learning until March 2021, leading to serious

declines in academic performance. • Small business owners in Minnesota have slammed Walz’ extreme COVID-era policies for destroying

Denying Parents School Choice

• Harris and Walz have a long history of opposing school choice, denying parents the freedom to choose

where their children receive their education. • Walz has attacked school choice programs as “schemes” that only “transfer wealth to folks on the

backs of [public school] students.”

Targeting Free Speech

• The left has repeatedly targeted the free speech rights of Americans they disagree with. • The Biden-Harris administration launched a so-called Disinformation Governance Board aimed at

policing Americans’ free speech, before later scuttling the board due to backlash. • In 2019, Harris urged Twitter to censor then-President Trump from criticizing the impeachment.
