AAF: The Truth About the Georgia Abortion Death

TOPLINE: Pro-Abortion activists and the pro-abortion media are seizing on the tragic death of Amber Thurman, a Georgia woman, following preventable complications from the abortion pill, mifepristone.

Here’s the truth: All pro-life state laws allow doctors to exercise their medical judgment to treat women with pregnancy emergencies. No law requires “imminence” or “certainty” before a doctor can act to save the patient’s life.

Thurman died from a legal chemical abortion. • Thurman got an infection from fetal remains that failed to pass after she took mifepristone. The issue was not discovered initially because the Biden-Harris FDA removed longstanding protections.

The Left’s Disinformation Campaign Killed Thurman — NOT Georgia’s Pro-Life Laws: • Georgia’s pro-life state law allowed for Thurman to receive the care she needed, “necessary in order to prevent the death of the pregnant woman or the substantial and irreversible physical impairment of a major bodily function.” • Thurman’s doctors could have operated but decided not to. Why? - let’s be honest, it was likely the result of the abortion lobby’s reckless disinformation campaign. The Abortion Pill is Dangerous for Women: • In Finland, 20.0% of women undergoing mifepristone-induced abortions had complications. • According to Medicaid data, Mifepristone’s complication rate was approximately 100x higher than reported in data volunteered by Planned Parenthood clinics and 273x the AE complication rate reported to the FDA. The Pro-Abortion Media is Seizing on This Tragic Situation to Remove Any Protections for Moms and Babies: • Georgia Senator Jon Ossoff is already holding a hearing on this tragic situation. • V.P.
