AAF: Say ‘NO’ to Pro-Union, Pro-Choice Labor Secretary Nom
TOPLINE: President Trump has nominated a Randi Weingarten-endorsed and abortion turncoat candidate to serve as the next Secretary of the Department of Labor: Lori Chavez-DeRemer. While in Congress, Chavez-DeRemer undermined conservative free market principles and betrayed the pro-life movement. Conservatives should oppose Lori Chavez-DeRemer for labor secretary. Progressive Union Bosses Recognize Chavez-DeRemer As An Ally: • Randi Weingarten, the president of the American Federation of Teachers (the teachers union that
called for extensive school shutdowns, long after the medical establishment determined that returning to school was safe) tweeted that “this would be a significant appointment for Trump to make… Lori Chavez-DeRemer touted for US Labor Secretary” • AFL-CIO President Liz Shuler praised her work in Congress, “Lori Chavez-DeRemer has built a
pro-labor record in Congress, including as one of only three Republicans to cosponsor the Protecting The Right To Organize (PRO) Act and one of eight Republicans to cosponsor the Public Service Freedom to Negotiate Act.” Chavez-DeRemer Cosponsored Radical Pro-Union Legislation: • Chavez-DeRemer cosponsored the PRO Act, which would nullify all right-to-work laws, effectively
overturning the democratically established laws of 27 States and forcing workers to join union to keep their jobs. • She also supported the Public Service Freedom to Negotiate Act which would dramatically increase
the power of public sector unions. Chavez-DeRemer Flip-Flopped and Helped Kill Pro-Life Legislation: • Chavez-Deremer initially ran for Congress on a pro-life platform and was endorsed by leading pro-
life groups, pledging to support pro-life legislation including a heartbeat protection bill. • Once elected to Congress, Chavez-DeRemer flip-flopped and opposed legislation that would have
stopped taxpayers from paying for abortions and ended the Biden-Harris Administration’s illegal mail-order abortion scheme. • CatholicVote President Brian Burch went so far as to call Chavez-DeRemer a sell-out on life. BOTTOMLINE: There are much better candidates for Secretary of Labor than Lori Chavez-DeRemer. President Trump should reconsider this nomination and put forth an option who isn’t endorsed by Randi Weingarten or other radical progressives, supports the right to work along with other conservative priorities, and lacks Chavez-DeRemer's not-so-secret pro-choice agenda.
