April 21

President Biden signed an executive order on April 21 designed to advance environmental justice. The order creates a new Office of Environmental Justice and directs federal agencies to take a “whole-of government approach to environmental justice.” This order continues the Biden administration’s long-standing policy of expanding the administrative state wherever possible. The presidential action is a transparent attempt to entrench “environmental justice” in the bureaucracy, in the latest example of the Biden administration attempting to weaponize the federal government.
