Andrew Hale is currently a Fellow at Advancing American Freedom (AAF) specializing in economics, trade policy and international relations. Andrew came to AAF from the Heritage Foundation where was the Jay Van Andel Senior Trade Policy Analyst. Prior to this Andrew worked in both the British and American governments.
In the United Kingdom he began his career working in the intelligence community for the British Ministry of Defence and the Defence Intelligence Staff where he was the Senior Intelligence Analyst tracking people indicted for war crimes at the International Criminal Tribunal for the Former Yugoslavia as well as a British Government Press Officer during Prime Minister Tony Blair’s administration. Later he moved to the realm of trade policy where he was Deputy Head of North America and Northern Ireland Lead at the UK Department for International Trade working on the CETA agreement between Canada and the European Union whilst the UK was still a member of the EU.
In the US Federal Government, Andrew worked for the US State Department and for Chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee in Congress. He also worked in the private sector in the aerospace industry, which took him to Montreal to work with Bombardier. Indeed, in a previous government role he led on the Bombardier antidumping dispute with Boeing. Andrew was educated in Canada, the US, the United Kingdom, and Switzerland. He is a citizen of the United States and United Kingdom.
