Advancing American Freedom led a coalition of 38 other amici in Christin Heaps v. Delaware Valley Regional High School Board of Education et al., supporting a father’s right to raise his daughter according to his values. In this case, school officials facilitated the social transition of Mr. Heaps’ daughter referring to her by a masculine name and with masculine pronouns, all without his consent. Schools have no authority make themselves final decision makers for children. When they do, they violate the right of parents like Mr. Heaps to raise their children consistent with their own values.
“No parent should have to find out that school officials have been making important decisions for their children without their knowledge,” said AAF General Counsel J. Marc Wheat. “Sadly, this is just one of many such cases in recent years. The Third Circuit must uphold Mr. Heaps’ right to raise his daughter according to reality and not passing fads.”
