Marc Short served as Chief of Staff to Vice President Mike Pence and Director of Legislative Affairs under President Donald J. Trump. In that role, he helped pass the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act and oversaw the confirmation of hundreds of nominees, including Supreme Court Justice Neil Gorsuch.
Marc is currently Board Chairman of Advancing American Freedom. He is also a founding partner at Advance Strategies and a frequent national media commentator. He serves on the Boards of Advisors for the Institute of Politics at the University of Chicago and the Center for Politics at the University of Virginia.
Previously, Marc was President of Freedom Partners Chamber of Commerce, the nation’s largest free-market business league, and served as Chief of Staff for the House Republican Conference and for Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison. Earlier in his career, he led the Reagan Ranch and Freedom Alliance.
Marc is a graduate of Washington and Lee University and holds an MBA from the University of Virginia’s Darden School. He now lives in Arlington with his wife and three children.
