The Biden White House put out a tweet crediting “President Biden’s leadership” as the reason that Seniors are getting the biggest increase in their Social Security checks in 10 years. The White House failed to note what is directly responsible for the bump in benefits—namely, high inflation rates. The cost-of-living adjustment is the biggest in over 40 years.
UPDATE: The White House removed the tweet after Twitter added a context note to the tweet which read, “Seniors will receive a large Social Security benefit increase due to the annual cost of living adjustment, which is based on the inflation rate.”
