AAF DOGE Memo

AAF’s Concern on the Department of Health and Human Services Proposed Rule “HHS Acquisition Regulation: Regulatory Review”

AAF is concerned that the Proposed Rule, as it relates to sexual orientation, gender identity, and
pregnancy provisions of nondiscrimination regulations leaves the door open for discrimination
against religious entities and for the government to violate the right of women to single-sex
private spaces. We also urge the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) not to
enshrine the Biden-Harris Administration’s poor record.

Office of Management and Budget Review; Legal and Advocacy Services for Unaccompanied Children

The unaccompanied minors that the Office of Refugee Resettlement works with are some of the most vulnerable children on the planet. Asking youth about whether they have a non-binary gender identity would only further confuse them, potentially leading them to follow the path of making a life-altering decision with permanent destructive consequences. Introducing such children to the concept, which is likely less common in many of the countries they are fleeing, may actively encourage them to adopt such an identity in hopes that it could give them a “special” advantage to staying in the United States. In the fundamental interest of operation upon a foundation of truth in the medical field and the right to life of the unborn, Advancing American Freedom demands that the Department of Health and Human Services withdraw the information collection revisions and reassign staff who worked on it to more suitable positions, where they are not a danger to public health.

Reporting Requirements for Religious Exceptions to Contraception Rule

AAF is concerned that the Department of Labor could use the information collected here to target groups who file for religious exceptions to the contraception reporting rule. In recent years, the government has abused its authority to harass those who disagree with its pro-abortion agenda or have religious objections to contraception, especially abortifacient contraceptives. Regrettably, we have no reason to think that data collection here could not be abused. After examining the Biden-Harris Administration’s record on the subject of abortion, why should the American people trust it with a surveillance operation regarding contraceptives? This database could serve as a target list of opposed organizations that could be used to target HHS audits and OSHA investigation efforts. In the early 2010s, the Internal Revenue Service (IRS)’s Exempt Organizations Unit, led by Lois Lerner, refused to process tax exemption requests from conservative nonprofit organizations. We remain concerned that similar ideological hatchet-jobs could occur here. Advancing American Freedom demands that the Department of Labor not move forward with renewing this so-called information collection program.

Proposed Aggregate Production Quotas for Schedule I and II Controlled Substances and Assessment of Annual Needs for the List I Chemicals Ephedrine, Pseudoephedrine, and Phenylpropanolamine for 2025

Advancing American Freedom understands the government’s interest in reducing methamphetamine use, which has ravaged communities across the United States. However, imposing quotas that cause shortages of legitimate drugs that people need is not the most effective solution. The United States government should place its primary focus on securing our southern border and eliminating Mexican cartels. Reimplementing policies like “Remain in Mexico,” will help to bolster security. Rebuilding the relationship between the DEA and the Mexican government is also necessary in combatting this issue. Mexican law enforcement fears repercussions from its federal government for cooperating with U.S. authorities, leading to a lapse in both countries’ anti-cartel measures. As a result, cartels act with impunity in Mexico. The United States and Mexico must establish a bilateral agreement to curb methamphetamine distribution. Existing agreements, such as the Merida Initiative, should be reworked to better equip Mexican law enforcement to crack down on methamphetamine production and distribution.

What Ever Happened to the Democratic Party?

Vice President Pence on RNC Platform : “A Profound Disappointment to Pro-Life Republicans”

“The RNC platform is a profound disappointment to the millions of pro-life Republicans that have always looked to the Republican Party to stand for life.

Now is not the time to surrender any ground in the fight for the right to life. The 2024 platform removed historic pro-life principles that have long been the foundation of the platform. I urge delegates attending next week’s Republican Convention to restore language to our party’s platform recognizing the sanctity of human life and affirming that the unborn child has a fundamental right to life which cannot be infringed.

The updated platform also cedes this fight to the states, leaving the unborn in California and Illinois to the far-left’s extremist abortion policies. The right to life is not only a state issue; it is a moral issue, and our party must continue to speak with moral clarity and compassion about advancing the cause of life at the federal, state and local level.

The Supreme Court did not return the question of abortion to the states only but to the elected representatives of the people. Every life, born and unborn, is precious and deserving of their rights endowed by their Creator. The 14th amendment, though rightly cited, will not protect the unborn across the country without further federal action.

Democrats certainly do not view life as a ‘states only’ issue, and they will try to adopt federal policies in line with Democrat-run states if we back away.

Unfortunately, this platform is part of a broader retreat in our party, trying to remain vague for political expedience. But history shows that those who stand without apology for life and make their case to the American people are rewarded at the ballot box. But beyond the politics of the issue is the immorality of ending an unborn human life. We must never lose the moral clarity to say that abortion is wrong. The GOP platform may be retreating, but we in the pro-life movement never will. We will continue to be a people of life, and we will not rest or relent until the sanctity of life is restored to the center of American law in every state in our land.

My fellow Republicans, Stand firm for Life. Restore the RNC platform’s historic commitment to the sanctity of human life. Pro-Life Americans and generations  born and unborn deserve nothing less.”
