Advancing American Freedom Executive Director Paul Teller issued the following statement following President Biden’s State of the Union address.

“Biden’s State of the Union address demonstrated that we need Republican leadership to get our nation back on track. Under the Biden administration Americans are experiencing the worst border crisis in history, soaring inflation rates and gas prices, and a national debt that reflects the out-of-control spending of the Biden administration. As Arkansas Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders said in the Republican response, ‘Americans want common sense from their leaders, but in Washington, the Biden administration is doubling down on crazy.’ The American people want to get back to the successes of a secure border and safe cities, they want the strength of a nation that is energy independent and has a booming economy, and they want a nation that values the family unit and life.”

Advancing American Freedom’s Future of Freedom legislative framework has outlined priorities for Congress to pass legislation to achieve energy independence, defend the sanctity of life, and fight the woke-capital ESG agenda.

Advancing American Freedom (AAF) today unveiled its latest initiative, targeting the spread of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) regulations. 

AAF, along with over 100 conservative leaders and officials, released a letter to Congress, calling on members to support the resolution introduced by Senator Mike Braun and Representative Andy Barr, which would block President Biden’s ERISA rule and protect Americans from dangerous investment practices.

In addition to the letter, Advancing American Freedom also introduced the third in its Future of Freedom legislative agenda series, outlining policies to roll back Biden’s ESG rulemaking, defend American retirees, and empower Americans to vote their shares. 

“The woke capital agenda of the Biden administration needs to be cast aside for common sense policies that protect American retirees,” said Advancing American Freedom founder Vice President Mike Pence. “The American people deserve accountability for their hard-earned savings and reassurance that the encroaching of ESG is overturned.”

These efforts in the 118th Congress are a continuation of Vice President Pence and Advancing American Freedom’s leadership in the fight against woke capital.

In April of 2022, Vice President Pence delivered remarks at Rice University, calling out those who sought to weaponize the U.S. financial system to “destroy energy producers from within.”

VP Pence has since written two nationally-syndicated pieces in RealClearMarkets and the Wall Street Journal calling for conservatives to take up the mantle against the sinister ESG agenda.

Advancing American Freedom (AAF) today released a legislative framework that protects the lives of the most vulnerable of our country, ends taxpayer funding of abortions, and looks to ease the bureaucratic burden surrounding foster care and adoption.  

“Americans are ‘endowed by our Creator with certain unalienable rights’ that include, first among them, life,” said Advancing American Freedom founder Vice President Mike Pence. “Our legislative framework provides the 118th Congress with a roadmap to protect life and restore respect for the sanctity of life, and Advancing American Freedom looks forward to working with Congress to restore a culture of life in America.”  

AAF’s frameworks calls on the 118th Congress to take up legislation that advances the policy priorities that will protect and honor the dignity and worth of all people, end taxpayer funding for abortion, and end the violence against pregnancy care centers that offer support to the mother and child.  

In addition to releasing the legislative framework AAF has also filed a FOIA request to Department of Justice for internal communications regarding the violent attacks against pro-life organizations in the wake of the overturning Roe v Wade, and is implementing a legal strategy to protect the cause of life against aggressive agency regulations. 

This effort is built upon Advancing American Freedom’s signature policy platform, the Freedom Agenda. Built in partnership with more than 50 conservative leaders, this document serves as a roadmap for conservative policy victories in Washington and across the country. At the start of this new Congress, Advancing American Freedom is introducing a series of legislative recommendations to inscribe the vision and values of the Freedom Agenda into law.

Advancing American Freedom today released a legislative framework that slashes radical liberals’ job- killing regulations, fights back against the government’s woke Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) agenda, and restores American energy independence and launches a new era of American energy dominance.

“In order to set the United States back on a path of energy independence, Congress must replace its radical energy agenda with policies that put hardworking families first,” said Advancing American Freedom founder Vice President Mike Pence. “Our legislative framework stops the Left’s war on American energy and will restore the United States as a global leader in energy production.”

Advancing American Freedom worked with more than 50 allies across the conservative movement to launch its Freedom Agenda in March 2022, providing a compelling framework for leaders and activists across the country to promote at every level of government. In the 118th Congress, Advancing American Freedom will call on Republicans to take up legislation that advances the policy priorities that will reverse the impact of climate radicalism, unleash American energy, and secure energy dominance. These policy priorities include, but are not limited to:

Ending Congressional Climate Theater: Eliminate the House Select Committee on the Climate Crisis and other mechanisms by which the Left furthers its climate agenda on Capitol Hill.

Rejecting Climate Mandates: Reject federal mandates that reduce consumer choice, drive up costs, and increase reliance on materials from our foreign adversaries.

Establishing Global Energy Leadership: Reject attempts to curb exports of U.S. produced oil, helping to restore the United States’ status as a global leader in energy.

Eliminating Woke Capital: Reverse the impact of Environmental, Social, and Governance rules on American businesses.

Repealing Government Mandates: Rollback the regulatory burden set in place by the Biden administration and Congressional Democrats.

Expediting Creation of Critical Energy Infrastructure: Accelerate land lease sales and permitting approval to unleash American energy producers.

The legislative framework is part of a $10 million American energy independence campaign launched in March 2022. As part of the campaign, AAF placed targeted advertisements in eight congressional districts, resulting in 35 million impressions, and hosted a nationwide series of policy events designed to engage key stakeholders in support of a pro-American energy agenda. AAF’s efforts in 2023 will build off the success of that campaign, seeking to further amplify our conservative policy agenda and end the assault on American energy. Advancing American Freedom (AAF) today announced it filed an amicus brief before the United States Supreme Court in Loper Bright Enterprises et al v Gina Raimondo. In the brief, joined by Pelican Institute for Public Policy and America First Legal Foundation. amici argue that the case of Loper v. Raimondo presents the opportunity for Chevron v NRDC to be overturned, which has long permitted the confusion of powers of the several branches of the Federal government.

“The Chevron Doctrine has too long been the cause of overreaching Federal regulations that have created financial hardships for Americans of all walks of life, and the case before us today will decide if a Federal agency can place bureaucrats on fishing boats and make the owners pay for it,” said J. Marc Wheat, General Counsel for Advancing American Freedom. “The courts have an opportunity to right this wrong and overrule this burdensome doctrine.”

The amicus brief asks the court to consider that Congressional silence is not tantamount to delegating its legislative powers, silence of the Legislative branch is not to be taken as ambiguous, but the Chevron doctrine has read this silence as permission for a fill-in-the-blank overreach of its limited powers.

The amici goes further, emphasizing that Congress alone has power of the purse and the Chevron doctrine, by allowing mischievous agencies to seek funds outside of the appropriations process, has exceeded its delegated powers, and the judicial powers of Article III must now be used to reign in the roving powers of unelected agencies taking powers the Constitution grants to Congress alone.

From AAF Executive Director Paul Teller:  “Kudos to Senate Republican Leader McConnell for saying that Congress needs to pass a short-term continuing resolution into January.  All freedom-loving Americans should tell their U.S. senators and representatives to stop the Pelosi-Schumer spending spree and to vote against all new spending bills until the new House Republican majority is sworn in — they must be given the opportunity to reduce federal spending and eliminate left-wing cultural priorities.”

Advancing American Freedom, along with 20 other pro-family organizations, submitted an amicus brief to support parents in the case Parents Defending Education v. Linn Mar Community School District in Marion, Iowa.

On Friday, Advancing American Freedom and 17 additional conservative advocacy organizations submitted a letter to Republican House Leadership, calling for the elimination of the House Select Committee on the Climate Crisis in the new Congress.

This is the latest in AAF’s ongoing efforts to dismantle the Biden administration’s radical climate agenda and regulatory regime in order to unleash American energy and relieve the burden on producers and consumers. In October, AAF Founder, Vice President Mike Pence, joined Larry Kudlow on Fox News, issuing the call to action for a new conservative House majority to end the Committee:

President Biden’s proposed windfall profits tax on energy companies is the administration’s latest misguided attempt to combat surging gas prices and record-high inflation. Make no mistake, Americans are hurting, but not at the hands of the oil industry. Rising costs and fuel shortages are a direct result of the climate radicalism of the Biden administration and its allies on Capitol Hill. Families and businesses deserve relief, not progressive talking points. Advancing American Freedom will continue to call for conservative solutions to Biden’s energy crisis that alleviate the burden on American families and solidify the future of our energy economy.

Opposing a Windfall Profits Tax
• A windfall profits tax would discourage investment in the energy industry at a time when companies need increased capital to carry out essential operations in an unstable and unpredictable environment.
• As companies report higher profits, they are reinvesting those returns in order to maintain (and soon increase) supply.
• Reducing investments, thereby reducing the industry’s ability to generate supply, would ultimately make the United States more dependent on imports of foreign oil.

If the Biden administration wants companies to increase domestic supply, it should first start by reducing the regulatory burden it has imposed on the industry. These policies are outlined in AAF’s Freedom Agenda, and include:

• Expediting oil and gas land lease sales and permitting approval to unleash the full potential of American producers and distributors.
• Approving and expediting the construction of the Keystone XL pipeline and other pipelines critical to increasing the distribution of crude oil.
• Eliminating the Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) rules which threaten companies’ access to capital and financial institutions critical to investment, production, and growth.
• Withdrawing from the Paris Climate Accord, which handcuffs our domestic energy potential in favor of arbitrary climate goals.
