Advancing American Freedom today announced its support of Senate Resolution 37, which revokes the emergency declaration the administration has used to impose nearly across-the-board tariffs of 25 percent on imports from Canada.
“Tariffs are a tax on American families and businesses. Estimates indicate that 400,000 Americans could lose their jobs due to this unprovoked trade war with our two most important trading partners. The first Trump administration cut an excellent deal with Canada with USMCA. The president should not abandon this agreement and lacks the authority to unilaterally do so.” said AAF President Tim Chapman. “This White House’s protectionist policies have saved Justin Trudeau’s Liberal Party from certain electoral defeat, making future negotiations with Canada even more difficult. By ending the emergency declaration, Congress is doing its part to end the trade war with Canada.”
