Advancing American Freedom led a coalition of 41 other amici standing for the First Amendment rights of pregnancy resource centers against pro-abortion New York Attorney General Letitia James. In National Institute for Family and Life Advocates v. James, NIFLA and two of its member pregnancy resource clinics are defending themselves against Ms. James and the State of New York who wrongfully accused the clinics of false advertising for informing women of the possibility of chemical abortion reversal. In its amicus brief, AAF argued that Ms. James’ litigation against pro-life pregnancy centers is reminiscent of the State’s previous targeting of conservatives.
“Pro-life pregnancy resource centers provide an invaluable resource for women with unexpected pregnancies, ensuring that they have the resources they need to choose life and be healthy doing so,” said AAF General Counsel J. Marc Wheat. “New York’s attempt to prevent those centers from helping women who regret taking a chemical abortion pill is unconscionable. We urge the Second Circuit to defend the speech and associational rights of pro-life pregnancy centers and the lives of the unborn children and women those centers serve.”
