AAF on Border Deal

February 6th, 2024

Advancing American Freedom issued the following statement after House Leadership announced the Senate border deal was “dead on arrival.”

“The House Leadership made the right decision to stand against the border bill,” said AAF Executive Director Paul Teller. “The crisis at the border was caused by Biden and Democrats who still refuse to do anything to address the crisis. Biden doesn’t need further authorities to do his job and close the border, and the House is right to not cave on the immigration loopholes that were included in the Senate supplemental. We encourage House Leadership to continue these firm tactics against other items coming out of the Democrat Senate.”

AAF Expands FOIA after Apparent DOJ Document Destruction

February 6th, 2024

Advancing American Freedom has reopened its FOIA request into DOJ memos referencing “radical traditionalist Catholic ideology” after the initial FOIA was denied last September. It now appears DOJ believed at that time all documents pertaining to AAF’s initial FOIA request were destroyed.

“After Congressional investigators revealed the FBI might have destroyed all documents related to the AAF FOIA request, there should be answers to why that action was taken,” said J. Marc Wheat, AAF General Counsel. “The government is accountable to the people, and questions regarding the targeting of religious groups by the Department of Justice or FBI should receive answers not shredders.”

The letter to the Department of Justice can be found here.
