Pence decries planned abortion activist disruptions of Mother’s Day church services: ‘Totally unacceptable’

EXCLUSIVE: Former Vice President Mike Pence strongly condemned anticipated disruptions by abortion activists outside of Catholic churches over Mother’s Day weekend, days after a draft court opinion overturning landmark abortion case Roe v. Wade leaked out of the Supreme Court.

Pence sat down with Fox News Digital Saturday before he delivered a commencement address at Patrick Henry College in Purcellville, Virginia, during which he called planned protests at churches “unacceptable.”

“Well, every American has a right to peaceful protest, peaceable assemblies guaranteed in the Constitution. But the rumors that there will be a disruption of church services on Mother’s Day is totally unacceptable,” Pence told Fox News Digital.

“And I also think it’s absolutely imperative, as I’m sure is the case, that we see to the safety and security of all the members of the Supreme Court of the United States. But I’m confident that this Supreme Court will not be intimidated.”

Pence called the leak out of the Supreme Court a “despicable act” and emphasized that those who are responsible must be held to account.

“I have long believed that Roe v. Wade was not only morally wrong, but deeply legally flawed,” Pence told Fox News Digital, pointing to the late liberal Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg’s statements admitting that it is a hard case to defend on legal grounds.

“I hope and pray that the majority of the court will return the question of abortion to the states and the American people where it belongs. Now, that will not end the debate over abortion. It will simply open up a new battlefield in the cause of life,” Pence explained.

I think we need to meet this moment with resolve and compassion,” he continued, saying that it includes allowing those who were “caught up” in abortion culture over the last 50 years to know that this is an opportunity for redemption, grace and ultimate healing for the country.

However, pro-abortion activists organized by the group “Ruth Sent Us” have published the home addresses of the six conservative justices and are planning to gather at their private residences to protest the likely overturn of Roe.

The White House this week wouldn’t tell abortion activists to avoid Supreme Court justice’s homes, with White House press secretary Jen Psaki instead saying that Biden believes in “peaceful protests,” but the administration had no “official U.S. government position on where people protest.”

Pence applauded Chief Justice John Robert’s remarks this week that the leaked opinion in the case is “appalling,” but would not impact the court’s final opinion.

“A leak of this stature is absolutely appalling,” Roberts said on Thursday in Atlanta during an annual meeting of lawyers and judges from the federal 11th Circuit. “If the person behind it thinks that it will affect our work, that’s just foolish.”

“I was heartened by Chief Justice John Robert’s statement that the leak, which was clearly designed to influence the outcome in the Dobbs case, would not affect the court’s doing its work. And I’m confident about that,” the former vice president told Fox News Digital.

Roberts confirmed Tuesday that Justice Samuel Alito’s draft opinion in the case Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization was genuine – although the draft dates back to February, and it does not represent the current or final opinion of the court.

Pence continued to project confidence in the eventual overturn of Roe, saying during the interview he has great confidence that the three Trump-Pence appointed Supreme Court justices will stand behind the majority decision as outlined in the draft brief.

“Whoever this individual was, if their intention was to change the outcome of this case, they will fail. Because I do believe that the conservative majority on the court, including three of whom were appointed in the Trump-Pence administration, will do their job. But I also believe that whatever the outcome of this case, we will never rest, we will never relent until the Supreme Court of the United States overturns Roe v. Wade and gives our country a new beginning for life.”

Pence stated during the commencement speech once again that the justices must send Roe to “the ash heap of history where it belongs,” sparking cheers from the graduates of the Christian school and their families.

The Supreme Court is expected to issue its final ruling in the case within the next two months.

Mike Pence Credits Trump Supreme Court Appointments, American People With Probable Overturn Of Roe v. Wade

LOUDOUN — Former Vice President Mike Pence is confident that Roe v. Wade will be overturned, and he credits this projected pro-life victory to former President Donald Trump’s Supreme Court appointments and the voice of the American people.

During a Saturday morning interview with The Daily Wire ahead of his commencement speech at Patrick Henry College, Pence weighed in on the leaked draft opinion showing that the court is likely preparing to overturn Roe v. Wade.

The former vice president suggested that overturning Roe v. Wade and returning the power to decide abortion back to the states would prompt Americans to take a closer look at who they elect on the state level.

He referenced leftist hopes that increased focus on Roe would drive voters to the polls, noting that Democratic lawmakers wish to change the subject and distract from inflation, the crisis at the southern border, and more.

“I have a very different thought,” he said. “I have a sense that should the Supreme Court overturn Roe v. Wade and return the question of abortion to the states, there’s going to be millions of Americans who take a harder look at who they are supporting and electing as governor and as their state legislators on the issues of life.”

“And I think in a very real sense, not only will the prospect of this decision potentially give us a new beginning for life in this country, which I think is the most important moral question in America today, but also I think it will revive a political debate at the state level,” he added.

Overturning Roe v. Wade may “set the stage for an incredible renewal of everything that’s always made this country great at the state and federal level, in 2022, 2024 and beyond,” Pence predicted.

“I think you will see, people around the country will be looking for women and men who are willing to stand with them on life, on religious liberty, on parental rights,” he said.

Should the court overturn Roe v. Wade, Pence believes the credit should go “first and foremost to the American people who supported a candidate and a ticket that were unapologetically pro-life.”

“Both President Trump and I spoke plainly in the campaign in 2016 about our commitment to the sanctity of life,” he said. “I couldn’t be more proud to have been part of the most pro-life administration in American history. President Trump kept his word, appointed strict constructionists to the Supreme Court of the United States. And it should come as no surprise that three of the justices, out of the five, in the draft opinion, were appointed by our administration.”

“Our record on life didn’t stop at the Supreme Court,” he noted. “We saw the appointment and confirmation of nearly 300 other conservative judges to our federal courts at every level. We reestablished the Mexico City policy that banned federal dollars from supporting organizations around the world that provide or promote abortion. We provided millions of dollars of support to crisis pregnancy centers around the country. As vice president, I was the first official at my level to ever visit a crisis pregnancy center while in office. And I was honored to do so.”

Pence also noted that he cast the tie-breaking vote in the Senate that allowed Trump to sign a bill allowing states to defund Planned Parenthood.

“Our record on the right to life was consistent,” he said. “Pro-lifers around America, me included, couldn’t be more grateful that President Donald Trump kept his word and appointed conservatives to our court.”

“When Roe v. Wade is overturned, it will be because of the appointments that President Trump made to the court and the willingness of the American people to support an administration and to support Republican leaders in the United States Senate who stood by the right to life,” he added.

Pence also called the leak of the draft Supreme Court opinion a “despicable act,” saying, “those responsible need to be held to account.”

“But I hope and pray that the draft opinion becomes adopted as the majority opinion of the Supreme Court of the United States and we send Roe v. Wade to the ash heap of history where it belongs,” he added.

“I’ve long believed that that Roe v Wade was not only morally wrong, but but deeply legally flawed,” he said. “And even the late Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, who was a defender of abortion rights, found it difficult to defend on a legal basis.”

Pence’s hope is that “the five justices will have the courage of their convictions” and that the question of abortion will be returned to the states and “the American people where it belongs.”

Pence Calls On Biden To ‘Speak Out Forcefully’ Against Potential Violence Against Justices, Disruptions Of Catholic Masses

LOUDOUN — Former Vice President Mike Pence called on President Joe Biden to “speak out forcefully”as protestors plan demonstrations at the homes of the Supreme Court justices and at Catholic masses.

“President Biden should speak out forcefully, make it clear that those who support his view on abortion, on the Supreme Court, let their voice be heard, but heard peacefully and respect the law,” Pence said in a Saturday morning interview with The Daily Wire.

“The president of the United States is the chief law enforcement officer of the United States of America,” he continued. “And he ought to make it very, very clear that anyone who would engage in violence or threaten violence or disrupt religious services would be held to the strictest account.”

The White House has not responded to many requests for comment regarding the doxing of the justices or calls for protests at Catholic Churches. Asked Thursday if Biden condones the publishing of the Supreme Court justices’ locations, White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki said that Biden’s view “is that there is a lot of passion.”

“I don’t accept that,” Pence said Saturday, addressing whether Psaki’s response was adequate. “Americans can be passionate without breaking the law. And there’s no excuse for violence against persons or property in the name of any political causes.”

Pro-abortion disruptions of Catholic masses would also violate the Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances (FACE) Act, which prohibits “violent, threatening, damaging and obstructive conduct intended to injure, intimidate, or interfere with the right” to obtain abortions. It also bans the use of force, physical obstruction, injury, or intimidation to “injure, intimidate or interfere with any person lawfully exercising or seeking to exercise the First Amendment right of religious freedom at a place of religious worship.”

The Metropolitan Police Department told The Daily Wire on Friday that it is “aware of potential disruptions associated with First Amendment demonstrations, MPD will be monitoring, assessing and planning accordingly with our local and federal partners.”

“We increased available resources, including the activation of our Civil Disturbance Units, in preparation for these activities,” MPD public information officer Hugh Carew said.

One of the leftist groups calling for protests at the justices homes, Ruth Sent Us, also urged protestors to “stand at or in a local Catholic Church” on Sunday, Mother’s Day.

The organization had posted a map on its website that listed the street names where each justice supposedly lives with their families: Amy Coney Barrett, John Roberts, Samuel Alito, Brett Kavanaugh, Clarence Thomas, and Neil Gorsuch.

“We have clear policies that prohibit the use of personal information in My Maps and users can flag content that they feel is in violation of our policies for review,” a Google spokesperson told The Daily Wire. “After review of this map, we have found it to be in violation of our personal and confidential information policy and have removed it.”

The protestors are reacting to a leaked draft opinion showing that the court is likely preparing to overturn Roe v. Wade. Protests also took place outside the United States Supreme Court in Washington, D.C., in Los Angeles (where protestors violently clashed with police) and in New York City.

Pence also called the leak of the draft Supreme Court opinion a “despicable act,” calling for “those responsible need to be held to account.”
